Гостиница «Москва», ставшая своеобразным символом советской эпохи, была построена в самом сердце столицы, напротив Кремля, в 1935 году. Украсив своей необычной архитектурой центр города, это грандиозное сооружение получило статус «первой пролетарской гостиницы на тысячу мест».
История проектирования и строительства гостиницы опутана интригами и закулисной борьбой архитекторов различных направлений. Cам Иосиф Виссарионович Сталин приложил руку к выбору нестандартного решения фасада, что и привело к известной «разнобокости».
«Москва» известна не только оригинальным внешним видом, но и своими постояльцами, в числе которых — артисты и писатели, маршалы и доярки, депутаты съездов и участники кинофестивалей. Телезрители познакомятся с рассказами очевидцев и потомков именитых жильцов этого временного пристанища, которое для многих стало и настоящим домом, и частью жизни, а также узнают о многих смешных и грустных историях, происходивших в стенах гостиницы.
Фильм сделан в оригинальной манере с использованием компьютерной графики и полиэкранов (картинка в картинке). Яркий, живой и остроумный рассказ ведет автор ленты, которая с помощью специальных технологий оказывается внутри кадров документальной хроники прошлых лет.
